Training the Next Generation of Academic Scholars
The Deakin Business School and Deakin Law School PhD program is a rigorous, four-year program designed to produce high quality researchers able to pursue an academic or high-end research career in industry or government. Our program is purposely small-sized, resulting in close student-faculty collaboration and personalised support throughout your studies.
When you join our PhD program, you join one of the top research schools in Australia. Both Deakin Business School and Deakin Law School achieved an “above world class” performance rating in the most recent Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) evaluation. Our staff frequently publish in elite international journals ensuring a high quality of research supervision.
PhD students can commence their program in either Trimester 1 (February) or Trimester 2 (July) each year. Expressions of Interest in the program are due in September and February prior to these commencement dates. See How to apply for details.
To be considered for our PhD program, candidates are expected to demonstrate the following:
- Strong interest in developing new knowledge and conducting rigorous research
- Ability to think creatively
- Demonstrated ability to undertake independent research in an Honours or Master-level program
- Excellent English communication skills.
