3MT winners contest Deakin grand final – please come along!

Our Faculty Three Minute Thesis competition final was held recently and we had the opportunity to hear from seven of our PhD candidates as they pitched their research within a tight timeframe and with the aid of just a single slide.

Congratulations to the winning presenter and two runners up –

  • First place: Ninia Reza – Legal Accountability of Multinational Corporations with Supply Chains in the Garment Industry of Bangladesh
  • Runner up : Christina Spetzler Gregerson – How doing environmental behaviours is bad: A review on Environmental spillover behaviours
  • Runner up: Bullipe Reddy Chintha – Estimating Intangible Capital via Machine Learning

Thanks to our judging panel –

  • Dr Jeanette Fyffe, Director Researcher Development
  • AssocProf Neera Bhatia, Deakin Law School
  • AssocProf Edward Podolski, Department of Finance

While judging was underway, we were also lucky to have visiting Professorial Research Fellow Brent McFerran present his own 3MT, on his research into Perceived healthiness, expiration date judgement and consequences for food decisions.

Ninia and Christina will now go on to contest the Deakin University 3MT grand final and you are all strongly encouraged to attend this event and provide your support.  The event will also incorporate the final of the Visualise Your Thesis competition – a pre-recorded audio-visual and multimedia competition that showcases a researcher’s project in just 60 seconds.

Master of Ceremonies for the Grand Final event is comedian, actor and Deakin alumnus Nazeem Hussain.  The event will be live streamed, so if you can’t join us in-person, join us online instead!
