Strengthen your digital account security with MFA

As part of the Business and Law research community, you are given privileged access to many important systems and data. It is vital that we protect them. One easy way is by MFA.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional step to verify your identity when you log in to Deakin applications.

This extra layer of security is now mandatory of all HDR accounts to protect your user account from unauthorised access.

How do I set up and use MFA?

To make it an easy process, we run our MFA through an app called ‘DUO Mobile. To get started with MFA:

  • Download the latest version of the DUO Mobile app from Google Play or the Apple Store. If you don’t have a smartphone, you can register with your mobile number to use our SMS option.
  • Follow these set-up instructions, which include some helpful screenshots.
  • When you access an SSO service, just approve the DUO log-in notification when prompted and you’ll be signed in. Simple! We also recommend you tick the box that says ‘Keep me signed in for seven days’ to make things even quicker.

This extra layer of protection can be applied to many other digital services that you may use too – Facebook or Apple ID or even Fortnite/Epic Games…
