STATA Workshop

This workshop will be facilitated by Angel Sung, Research Fellow in the Department of Accounting. Angel was previously Executive Officer at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Senior Research Assistant at City University of Hong Kong. She received her MA in Quantitative Analysis for Business from City University of Hong Kong, MPhil and BSc in Mathematics (Statistics) from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mock Interviews
Tuesday 3 October (save the date)

Students with a consumed load greater than 2.5 years will be offered the opportunity to take part in a mock job interview. Interviews will be held over the whole day. You will be notified of your appointment time. Information on job selection criteria will be supplied with an email invitation.

Introduction to Structural Equation Modelling (SEM)
Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 October
BUiLD 2-day training workshop with Dr Mark Griffin

Structural equation modelling is a very general statistical model and widely used method. For example, SEM is used in fundamental disciplines such as the social, economic and psychological sciences, the biological sciences, and applied disciplines such as education, health and marketing. This course provides the fundamentals and statistical theory of SEM as well an overview of its many applications and capabilities. The course is not particularly mathematical, with emphasis on the fundamental concepts of SEM and how it is used by applied researchers. A few places are still available. Grant Ed Workshop – Thriving, not just surviving

First-year HDR students will be offered four x 2-hour programs from the Grant Ed group. You will learn how to develop skills and approaches to successfully manage the pressures of completing a PhD, and be prepared to thrive in post-PhD careers. Topics include communication, networks and collaborations, wellbeing and life after PhD. One program topic will be offered in 2017 with the remaining three being offered in 2018.

Confirmation Presentation Skills
November and December 2017

Join Jon Hopwood for a half-day, intensive confirmation presentation skills workshop. Two alternate sessions will be scheduled to ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend one of these sessions. Please note, attendance is a requirement for first year HDR students.

2017 Library HDR Training Program

The Library offers a range of online seminars as part of the HDR training program. These seminars are targeted to University researchers, and HDR students. Bookings are essential, and open for registration two weeks before the seminar takes place. Upcoming programs include literature review, Endnote, your publishing plan and your author profiles.
