Education and training

The team at Deakin Bioethics provides a range of education and training opportunities for people interested in developing or expanding their knowledge and skills in clinical ethics, bioethics, health law and professionalism.
Clinical Ethics
Our clinical ethics short courses are designed in collaboration with experienced clinicians in relevant specialties. These courses combine facilitated interprofessional small group case discussions with brief presentations providing an introduction to foundational ethical theory, principles and considerations pertinent to real situations arising in the context of clinical care.
Information about our popular short course on ethics for clinicians involved in perioperative care is available here.
Our very popular Clinical Ethics: Organ Transplantation course was held in May 2025 with the support of the Australian Organ and Tissue Authority. This will run again in 2026. If you would like to register your interest in attending this course, please contact us at bioethics@deakin.edu.au.
If your organization is interested in hosting a clinical ethics short course exclusively for members or staff, or would like to discuss the possible development of a unique, tailored course, please contact us at bioethics@deakin.edu.au.
Postgraduate studies in bioethics
