Model wind farm
The BBN has been played a central role in the development of the renewable energy proposal, which has already seen French renewable energy provider, TrustWind, relocate its regional offices to the town.
The company has plans to establish a 21-turbine model wind farm on the outskirts of town. The company is in talks with local government, landowners, and other stakeholders at present. TrustWind seeks to engage with its local community in meaningful ways.
BBN is currently negotiating with TrustWind on the proposal. Plans include the development of ‘hire local’ policies, which will ensure the local talent pool is first in line for employment opportunities, the upgrade of local transport infrastructure, leasing fees for landholders, and the establishment of a tourist eco-centre in the centre of town. BBN has also successfully negotiated with TrustWind to create ongoing, generous in-kind support for local initiatives.
Full details of the proposals and planning will be available at upcoming Town Hall meetings to discuss the town’s future.
BBN Strategic Plan
This is the plan Helen Dimitriadis developed with the BBN initially last year — the upgraded version will be available in the next two to three weeks.
