What is ASELL Schools

The Advancing Science and Engineering through Laboratory Learning: ASELL for Schools project is a three-year funded project through the federal government’s Australian Maths and Science Partnerships Program (AMSPP). It extends the successful ASELL model used for the development of laboratory activities in undergraduate science courses to the development of laboratory learning activities (LLAs) for years 7 – 10 science learning in schools. At the same time, it provides professional development for teachers, the development of communities of practice through the establishment of science teacher networks, improvement of science learning for students, and opportunities for science education research. ASELL for Schools (Victoria) will be working in partnership with ReMSTEP and Skilling the Bay; both government supported STEM education initiatives.

ASELL for Schools (Victoria) works in partnership with schools to contribute to the development of a series of exemplary LLAs for lower secondary science, provide science teacher professional development through academic mentoring and Professional Development workshops, and form a network between scientists, engineers, science education academics and science teachers. The ASELL for Schools (Victoria) process is summarized in these three steps.
