Deakin Philosophy Seminar Series, Tri1, 2021
Dear colleagues and friends of Deakin philosophy,
Here is an initial draft program for our philosophy seminar series this trimester:
Date | Speaker | Title |
16 March | Dr Nevin Climenhaga (ACU) | “A Cumulative Case Argument for Infallibilism.” |
30 March | Dr Suzy Killmister (Monash) | “Dignity and Autonomy: Tracing the Connections” |
13 April | Professor Vanessa Lemm (Deakin) | TBC |
27 April | A/Prof Albert Atkin (Macquarie) | “Visibility as Epistemic Exploitation” |
11 May | Dr Marilyn Stendera (Deakin) | “De Beauvoir and Fanon on Reductive Temporalities” |
25 May | Dr Helen Ngo (Deakin) (TBC) | TBC |
8 June | Dr Dalia Nassar (Sydney) (TBC) | TBC |
As you can see, we have an excellent and diverse group of speakers lined up. We are starting in week 2 of trimester, with the philosophy HDR seminar series to commence in week 1.
The seminars will be held on every second Tuesday, as in past years, although the start time has moved from 4:00pm to 3:30pm (with a 5:00pm finish).
At this stage I assume we will be on Zoom, although perhaps now this can be revisited for some papers; I will keep you posted!
Unfortunately, Dalia Nassar is probably unavailable, so do let me know if you (i) have speaker suggestions (ii) would like to give a talk (on 8 June). Work in progress papers welcome!
I will send outlook calendar invites as placeholders, as well as the usual reminder emails, phil events, bulletin notices etc.
Take care and enjoy your weekend,
George
