On February 12, Dr James Barry participated in the panel “Armenian Communities in the Middle East Today – Syria and Iran” hosted by the University of California, Irvine. The panel brought together scholars from Armenia, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States and Lebanon. The full session is available here.

Dr Jaya Keaney is the recipient of the Australian Women’s and Gender Studies Association PhD Prize (2021). This prize is awarded every two years for the best doctoral thesis at an Australian university that centrally engages feminist paradigms. Jaya’s thesis, titled Technologies of Likeness: Theorising Race in Queer Families Made Through Third Party Reproduction, explores concepts of race and kinship in contemporary reproductive practices among queer communities.

Dr Jaya Keaney recently attended the virtual conference of the Australian Epigenetics Alliance, and co-authored a conference paper titled “Epigenetics and Indigenous Australia: A Social Science Analysis,” along with Henrietta Byrne (University of Adelaide).

Dr Earvin Charles Cabalquinto presented as a guest speaker in the webinar on “Strengthening the digital literacy of educators in the times of COVID-19″, organised by the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication Foundation Inc., and Nickel Asia Corporation. The event was held on 16 February 2021.

Dr Earvin Charles Cabalquinto presented with Professor Cheryll Soriano of De La Salle University Philippines in the 3rd National Conference on Democracy and Disinformation, organised by the University of the Philippine Visayas. The presentation entitled, ‘”Marcos Truths” on YouTube: Stories and Discursive Styles” is part of the book project on YouTube by Dr Cabalquinto and Professor Soriano, under contract with Amsterdam University Press.
