There is a lot happening in curriculum at Deakin. With so many changes in progress, Deakin library has decided to pause the OER grant program in 2026 to enable us to reassess the program, ensuring it aligns with the needs of students and academics. This change won\u2019t affect current and previous OER grant recipients, the Library will continue to support these as we always have.<\/p>\n
Since 2021,\u00a0<\/span>Deakin Library\u2019s Open Educational Resources (OER) Grants Scheme<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has empowered academics to adopt, adapt and create high\u2011quality open resources that improve access,\u00a0equity\u00a0and student success.\u00a0With support from the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP), the\u00a0Library\u00a0has offered over $200,000 in grants and delivered 26 OER projects over the past four years.\u00a0Project\u00a0supported by the grant\u00a0program\u00a0are estimated to have saved\u00a0students\u00a0over\u00a0$4 million.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n From 2026 our funding model and our access to Pressbooks requires change. This gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on our approach to the grant program and take this opportunity to focus on completing existing projects and setting up our infrastructure (including our own Pressbooks platform<\/span>)\u00a0to\u00a0support\u00a0the program\u00a0in the\u00a0future.\u00a0We will\u00a0be\u00a0continuing\u00a0to work\u00a0with the\u00a0academic\u00a0community,\u00a0building our open publishing\u00a0service\u00a0and\u00a0showcasing\u00a0OER excellence at\u00a0Deakin.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Open Ed News is a regular publication from Deakin Library, publishing Open Education-related news for the Deakin academic community and the broader Open Education community.
