Read on\u2026<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where will my thesis be made available?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Deakin theses are made available in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dro.deakin.edu.au\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">DRO (Deakin Research Online)<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the university\u2019s institutional repository.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What types of theses does DRO collect?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">DRO mostly holds PhD and Masters by Research theses.\u202fIt also collects Honours theses by arrangement with the School of Life and Environmental Science; however, generally Honours theses or Theses by Publication are not collected.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What happens to my thesis after I submit it to the Examination team?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">After your thesis has been assessed and passed, the Deakin Research Examinations team supplies the Library with the digital copy of your thesis and the Digital Thesis Copyright and Access form.\u202fThe Library redacts signatures contained within and makes the thesis available in DRO.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why can\u2019t I find my thesis in DRO?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The timeline for theses being received from Deakin Research and made available in DRO varies. If you have searched DRO and you\u2019re unable to locate your thesis, please <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/help\/contact-your-librarian\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">contact your librarian<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Will my thesis be openly accessible in DRO?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Deakin University\u2019s policy is to make your thesis open access by default. However, you may opt for an embargo period or restricted access if justification is provided. See <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/help\/copyright\/copyright-for-graduate-researchers\/submitting-to-dro\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Submitting to DRO<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for further information.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I change the access level of my thesis from open to restricted, or vice versa?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Yes, you can request to change access to your thesis at any time by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/help\/contact-your-librarian\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">contacting your librarian<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, however, there may be copyright or policy considerations.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I enter my thesis into Elements?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">No. Theses are not collected in Elements. They are entered directly into DRO once they have been assessed and passed by the Examinations team. DRO will preserve your thesis online and provide you with a permanent link to your thesis, which you can share with colleagues and future employers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>I have a question about my thesis and DRO that isn\u2019t covered here. Who can help?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Please <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/help\/contact-your-librarian\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">contact your librarian<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for further information about depositing your thesis to DRO.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\"><a id=\"ERIC\"><\/a>Library advocacy provides security for major educational index\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:160,&quot;335559739&quot;:80}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The future of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/a-z\/databases\/results?record=e1001833\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">ERIC<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (Education Resources Information Center), an online library of education research and information used widely across the university, is now more secure. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Library has been closely following and analysing potential impacts to access ERIC after recent decisions to cut funding to the US Department of Education by the US Department of Government Efficiency led to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/hechingerreport.org\/proof-points-restart-eric-ed-library\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">uncertainty around funding<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for ERIC. \u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In response to sector-wide advocacy, largely from libraries, Clarivate has developed the ProQuest Education Research Index to help maintain coverage of as many ERIC indexed titles as possible.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Deakin Library is currently arranging access to the free ProQuest Education Research Index to ensure researchers, students and teaching staff have access to this new index. It also makes it easier to connect your funding and research outputs to both you and Deakin.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">An ORCID is a unique number, also known as a persistent identifier (PID), that stays with you throughout your research career. It helps distinguish your work from that of others with similar names and supports your engagement in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. To create an ORCID, complete ORCID\u2019s free and simple <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/register\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">online registration form<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Elements is Deakin\u2019s administrative tool for collecting and managing publication data.
