{"id":6028,"date":"2025-03-24T10:00:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-23T23:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.deakin.edu.au\/article\/?p=6028"},"modified":"2025-03-20T10:45:15","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T23:45:15","slug":"announcing-the-deakin-library-margaret-cameron-residency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.deakin.edu.au\/article\/announcing-the-deakin-library-margaret-cameron-residency\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing the Deakin Library Margaret Cameron Residency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deakin Library is excited to announce the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deakin.au\/4ir5iR4\">Deakin Library Margaret Cameron Residency<\/a>, aligned with the University\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on the trove of rare and unique materials held in Deakin University Archives and Deakin Library\u2019s Special Collections, the Residency aims to share the rich stories captured within these collections, which document over a century of history, research and collecting at Deakin, along with its predecessor institutions and the regions in which the University has operated.<\/p>\n<p>The Residency is funded by a generous bequest from the late Professor Margaret Cameron AM, Deakin\u2019s first Chief Librarian. Deakin staff and graduate researchers are encouraged to <a href=\"https:\/\/deakin.au\/4ir5iR4\">explore the Residency information<\/a> and send through an <a href=\"https:\/\/deakin.au\/43H92ta\">expression of interest<\/a> to apply.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the objectives of the residency?<\/h2>\n<p>The successful resident will work in situ with Deakin&#8217;s Archives and Special Collections to research the history of Deakin or the stories that expand our understanding of the industries, disciplines and communities reflected in the University\u2019s extensive collections.<\/p>\n<p>A key deliverable of the residency will be engagement with the Deakin community and local audiences by contributing new perspectives on our past and sharing the stories that can be told through the unique material in the University\u2019s collections.<\/p>\n<h2>What does the residency offer?<\/h2>\n<p>The successful candidate will receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>access to Deakin University Archives and Deakin Library&#8217;s Special Collections<\/li>\n<li>expert support from University Archivist and Special Collections Librarian<\/li>\n<li>an award of up to A$10,000 to assist with living expenses, travel and research<\/li>\n<li>a dedicated workspace within Deakin Library at the campus most relevant to their research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What are the key dates?<\/h2>\n<p>Expressions of interest open: 17 March 2025<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest close: 23 April 2025<\/p>\n<p>Successful candidate(s) informed: The week of 26 May 2025<\/p>\n<p>Residency completed: No later than 28 November 2025<\/p>\n<h2>Where can you learn more?<\/h2>\n<p>Find out more by exploring <a href=\"https:\/\/deakin.au\/4ir5iR4\">the Deakin Library Margaret Cameron Residency page<\/a>, or get in touch with <a href=\"mailto:libraryevents@deakin.edu.au\">libraryevents@deakin.edu.au<\/a> with any questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deakin Library is excited to announce the launch of the Deakin Library Margaret Cameron Residency, aligned with the University\u2019s 50th anniversary celebrations.
