For the past few weeks, we\u2019ve had a lot of enquiries coming through Library Chat asking for tips and advice about how to do well. Not only is the library a great place for you to study, but we also offer resources, tools and information to help with your coursework.<\/p>\n<p>Here are our top five tips to help with your assessments.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Find recommended resources for your area of study<\/h3>\n<p>Our expert Scholarly Services Librarians have put together <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/help\/resource-guides\">Resource Guides<\/a> for dozens of schools and courses, complete with recommended books, digital resources, videos, guides, databases and more. Resource Guides are a treasure trove of advice and guidance that will give you a leg up with your studies by helping you find relevant and reliable resources to reference in your assessments.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Access our huge range of discipline-specific databases<\/h3>\n<p>Most of our databases can be accessed by clicking on the database name from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/a-z\/databases\">A-Z Databases page<\/a>, where you can filter your options by subject, study area or discipline. No matter what course you\u2019re enrolled in, or what type of information you\u2019re looking for, the library should have it (or can help you find it!)<\/p>\n<p>You can also quickly access popular databases for your faculty area in the Databases tile under \u2018Library\u2019 in DeakinSync.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Search for resources like a pro<\/h3>\n<p>When using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\">Library Search<\/a>, try the Advanced Search option to turbo-charge your search.<\/p>\n<p>You can also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>search by author, title, subject or keyword<\/li>\n<li>combine concepts with AND or OR to sharpen your search<\/li>\n<li>type in your unit code to bring up resources relevant to that unit<\/li>\n<li>refine your results by using the filter settings to set preferences like full text (online), source types (articles, journals, books, e-book, dissertations\/theses, newspapers), year of publication and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learn more about these tips on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deakin.edu.au\/library\/skills-for-study\/prepare-and-plan\/search-tips-and-planning\">&#8216;Search tips and planning&#8217; webpage<\/a>.
