Digital accessibility is a big way we can make sure that everyone gets to successfully engage with us and have a positive experience. Did you know that over one billion people worldwide have a disability or impairment? Visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities can all impact a person\u2019s ability to access web-based services and content \u2013 but simple accessibility practices can make a big difference for inclusion.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:160}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Prioritising accessibility in our Deakin Library platforms<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:160,&quot;335559739&quot;:120}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We&#8217;ve been working hard to improve the accessibility of our content, with projects like conducting an accessibility audit across 15 library platforms.\u00a0 In fact, we&#8217;ve recently won a 2023 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ADCET Accessibility Award for this work and the toolkit we developed alongside it (which will help to maintain and improve accessibility on Deakin platforms into the future!) <\/span>Library staff also won another ADCET award in 2022, this time for our part in creating an <a href=\"https:\/\/deakin.libguides.com\/activereading\">accessible active reading guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the library, five other teams from across Deakin also won ADCET Awards in 2023, and another five in 2022. It&#8217;s clear Deakin is doing great work in this area!<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/accessibility.day\/\">Global Accessibility Awareness Day<\/a><\/span> is celebrated across the world annually.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By making a few simple accessibility fixes to content, we can make significant improvements to the experience of people using our digital learning spaces!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Being inclusive is one of Deakin Library\u2019s key priorities.
