What you need to know about the new Lexis database
On 30 September 2018, the popular legal research database, LexisNexis AU, officially becomes Lexis Advance Pacific! This new platform will still have all the content you know and love – including CaseBase, Halsbury’s Laws of Australia and LawNow – but it will offer a new modern look, with easier search functionality and a customisable homepage.
Let’s have a look at some of the best new functions in this enhanced product.
The ‘single click search bar’ provides a simple and efficient way to search. Just type in some terms, a citation or a publication and Lexis Advance will do the rest.
Want to get more comprehensive? Use the advanced search pages for each publication to get straight to the most relevant results.
Once you’ve done a search, use the left panel of filters to reduce your results for more precision. Limit by country, resource type, jurisdiction, year and more.
Finally, the customisable homepage lets you view your search history, create favourite publications and set up alerts – so you’ll never miss important content.
These new functions offer you a superior platform that’s going to save time and help you find better results. Lexis Advance takes research to a new level, and we’re excited about the change. Remember, when you first access Lexis Advance Pacific, make sure you select ‘Pacific’ as the default page.
Deakin Library has created some helpful instruction pages for using the new Lexis Advance to research cases in CaseBase and legislation in LawNow.
So, what are you waiting for? Try out the new database today.
