New OER: The Business Case for Sustainability (BCFS) in Property Development (PD) Projects
Deakin Library is excited to announce the publication of a new OER! The Business Case for Sustainability (BCFS) in Property Development (PD) Projects is a dataset of case studies aimed at demonstrating the commercial potential of developing more sustainable, higher-performing residential building projects. Developed as part of a research project, the BCFS enables property developers to better understand the benefits and impacts of including sustainability features in their projects. Author Tom Keel on why the resource was published openly:
The BCFS was developed as an OER project as it then enables our positive research findings to reach developers, allowing them to benefit from what other developers and builders have found.
Included with the case study data is an explanatory video and slides. Users are also able submit case studies to be included in the BCFS, growing the data set over time. This recent article in The Conversation gives further insight on this project.
On how the resource support learning, author Tom Keel shares:
The BCFS is used by Deakin students in their Property and Real Estate Course through their creation of a new case study. As part of their assessment work of a property development project, they will complete a BCFS on a sustainable initiative using real world figures.
