New systematic search review services for HDRs and researchers
Conducting complex searches for systematic and systematic-like reviews can be a challenge. You need to make sure that you find all the relevant literature for your review question, but balance that against excluding irrelevant literature from your searches.
If you’re new to the process or short on time, Deakin Library can help. We’re trialling some new services over the coming year to more closely assist researchers in the University.
Proofreading complex searches
HDR students and researchers can submit their complex search to our team, and we’ll conduct a proofread to ensure that your search works just how you want it to. We will check over your search using the PRESS checklist and provide you with advice on how well your search fits with your research question, with any redundant or missing terms and with general search syntax (logic, spelling and appropriate commands).
A mediated literature search service
Staff only: Short on time? Our mediated literature searching service is available for complex review searches. One of our librarians will liaise closely with you to develop and run a comprehensive search for your research question, providing the results of the search to you in an EndNote library.
Assistance is also available for translating the search for additional relevant databases (up to three). More information is available on our Resource Guide.
A premium expert service
Staff only: Would you like a librarian on your research team? This service provides you with a dedicated librarian for a negotiated period of time.
Your librarian will be available to work with you and your team constructing, reviewing, refining and running your searches across multiple databases. Grey literature searching may also be included.
This service is available by backfill, by negotiation. More information is available on our Resource Guide.
