Library Basics Week 4: The wonder of Library resource guides
Starting out at uni, you might struggle to find relevant sources for your research. The Library provides access to millions of texts, videos, articles and journals. So, how do you narrow it down to what you really need?
Our resource guides are specifically designed to help with this. Our Scholarly Services Librarians work with academics and other experts to create subject-specific guides tailored to different disciplines. Other guides cover essential study and research skills, along with key tools to support your learning.
Subject-specific guides
Subject-specific guides connect you with key resources in your discipline. They point you to essential reference works, academic journals, databases, books, credible websites and statistical sources. Many guides also include specialised search tips and strategies to help you find the most relevant information.
These guides are divided into the four key faculty areas and then into relevant subject areas from there. We recommend bookmarking the guides related to your area of study for easy access:
Study and research guides
These guides provide expert tips to boost your study across disciplines.
Some of our students’ favourite guides include:
- The GenAI Resource Hub guides: these are aimed at building AI literacy so that you can engage with AI in an effective, ethical, responsible way consistent with the University’s guidelines.
- How to create different assets you might need for assessments: these include infographics, portfolios and videos.
- Guides on undertaking systematic-like reviews for Health, STEM subjects and Business.
We also recommend you explore the First Nations Hub, which provides information on respectful research and a guide to citing and referencing Indigenous knowledges, among other key advice.
