Library Basics Week 10: Reset and recharge in the Library

As the trimester nears its end, final assessments and deadlines start to stack up. That means it’s more important than ever to take a moment for yourself. The Library isn’t just a place to study – it also offers great spaces to reset and recharge. Here’s how you can make the most of our resources to support your wellbeing.

Find a moment of calm in the Reset Room

Need a private space to regain focus and calm? We’ve introduced Reset Rooms in all our libraries, designed to support self-regulation and provide a safe, soothing environment. As part of Deakin’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion, these spaces help students who need a moment of privacy or quiet.

Each Reset Room features:

Whether you need a short break, a quiet place to breathe, or a moment to recalibrate, the Reset Rooms are here for you. Learn more about them on the Deakin Library website.

Recharge with a good book in the Reading Nook

Our Reading Nook has had an exciting upgrade! Thanks to our new partnership with the iconic Melbourne bookstore, Readings, you’ll find a fresh selection of fiction and creative nonfiction books each month. As your studies wind down, take a break from academic reading and lose yourself in a new world. Whether you’re into mystery, fantasy, or contemporary fiction, there’s something for everyone. There’s nothing better than getting lost in a good book.

Wellbeing at Deakin

If you need support, Wellbeing at Deakin offers emergency and crisis help, as well as health and wellbeing services.

They provide resources across four key areas:

  1. Mental health – Strategies and support for managing stress and maintaining balance
  2. Physical health – Tips for staying active and healthy
  3. Relationships – Guidance on building positive connections
  4. Studies – Academic support and advice to help you succeed

You can also download the DeakinWELLBEING app for easy access to these resources and more.

Ask for study help if you need it

The end of the trimester can be intense. If you’re feeling stuck with your research or assessments, don’t hesitate to reach out to our friendly librarians. You can say hello at the Library Service Desk or reach out online.

Take care, and good luck with your final assessments!
