Library Basics Week 1: Explore your library

Are you in your first trimester at Deakin or returning to study after a break? We’ve got you covered. Each week, we’re sharing a library tip, tool or service we think you should know about. The library is key to your success at uni – make the most of everything we have to offer by following our Library Basics!

Now is the perfect time to get to know your library, especially our website!

If you missed our Explore Your Library sessions during OWeek (or even if you want to watch it again!), check out the session recording on UniStart.

A few tips to get you started

If you are looking for textbooks, research articles or streaming videos, the library website gives you access to millions of digital resources – everything you need to complete your assignments and studies.

Have questions about the library or our services? Reach out to us via live Library Chat and talk to a staff member right away. You can also check out our Skills for study page to find lots of great tips and tutorials on making a strong start in your course. This page will also help you develop your digital literacy skills to find, evaluate, use and share information.

If you’re based on campus, come in to visit us! Explore our study spaces, check out our collections and get face-to-face assistance from library staff during library staffed hours.

Finally, don’t hesitate to find and reach out to your Scholarly Services Librarian. They specialise in each faculty and can offer you more personalised advice and support in your studies.
