Indigenous Knowledges Collection – Now on the Discipline Specific OER Guide
Deakin Library is pleased to announce the addition of an Indigenous Knowledges collection to our Discipline Specific OER Guide.
The Indigenous Knowledges collection is a curated list of openly-licensed Australasian and international First Nations Knowledges publications and includes resources for specific disciplines including Health and Medicine, STEM, Arts and Education, Business and Law, and OER for Study, Teaching and Research. The Indigenous Knowledges collection is our newest addition to the Discipline Specific OER Guide and highlights a welcome increase in the development and release of OER reflecting Indigenous Knowledges and voices.
As OER, these resources can be freely saved, shared, reused, and adapted without copyright implications depending on the licence. Importantly, some of the items in the new Indigenous Knowledges collection are shared with a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative (CC BY-ND) license. While not typically compatible with the OER tenets, ND works are still actively promoted and welcomed in this collection as they recognise author and contributor need for balancing open knowledge sharing while preserving and protecting the materials, and their context, in their original form.
We anticipate that this collection will continue to grow and develop over time with greater open publishing efforts across our region, and we welcome your collaboration in this space. Please consider suggesting resources to include in these pages so we can continue to promote the fantastic work around us.
