Five exciting changes at Burwood Library
The refurbishment at Burwood Library is drawing to an end, and we have lots of exciting new spaces and facilities for you to check out.
1. 24-hour Microwave Hub and Vending Lounge
Head through the Corner Café to room V2.18, and you’ll find microwaves, vending machines with food and beverages, tables and chairs, a sink to wash up and a hot/cold filtered water tap. Please consume your food in this room before re-entering the library.
2. More seating and bookable booths
We’re making it easier than ever to find a place to study at our busiest library campus. We have added more than 300 new seats, which includes nearly 50 extra individual powered desks on levels two and three, and 75 on level one.
Also, from Monday 15 April we will make 15 more booths available for booking on our website. You can reserve a booth in half-hour timeslots for up to two hours per person, per day. Bookings open one week in advance, on Monday 8 April.
Want to see what’s available at a glance? Check out the ‘Book a space’ tile on your DeakinSync Library tab.
3. More toilets and facilities
On levels one and two, we have opened up new toilets for all genders in the back on the west side of the library building. We have also added a Changing Places facility to support people with disabilities.
4. Redesigned service area and self-loan machines
Library and eSolutions staff are now assisting you from our fresh, inventive service zone! You can find your holds and requests on the shelf and easily borrow your items using our self-loan machines.
5. Expanded 24-hour study area
From 27 May to 14 June , both level two and level three will be open 24 hours to give you more options for study spaces during the exam study period.
You can meet with your librarian one-on-one new in our new staff consultation rooms on level 2, or kick back with a good novel in our cosy Nook Books area after you turn in your assignments. If you’re on campus at Burwood, make sure you stop by the library to check out all the new and improved spaces.
