Fast, reliable access to articles when you need them: Introducing Article Galaxy Scholar

For researchers working to tight deadlines, waiting days for an article can interrupt momentum. Many of us have experienced the frustration of needing something immediately.

Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) is designed for exactly these moments. It’s a fast, browser‑based document delivery service that lets Deakin researchers access articles we don’t subscribe to, often in under seven seconds, delivered straight to your browser and email. The retrieval cost is covered by the Library.

Why AGS matters for researchers

1. Speed that supports your research workflow

AGS checks the catalogue (just in case) then looks for an open‑access copy. If it cannot find the paper there, it delivers the publisher PDF almost instantly – no forms, no waiting, no back‑and‑forth.

This means you can:

2. Integrated into tools you already use

AGS appears directly in Deakin Library Search. When you click Request PDF, AGS handles the rest – no separate accounts or platforms.

3. Access beyond our subscriptions

AGS covers more than 31,000 journals, including major academic publishers across the sciences, health, business, technology and humanities.

If we don’t hold the journal, AGS fills that gap without you needing to search elsewhere.

4. Smarter use of research time

Because AGS automates retrieval, it reduces:

Your focus stays where it belongs – on your research.

Behind the scenes: How the Library uses AGS

While researchers experience a fast, simple workflow, AGS also gives the Library tools to support responsible, equitable access including detailed usage data which can help identify high use journals and support future subscription decisions and resource planning.

This means AGS not only supports your immediate needs – it helps shape the Library’s long‑term investment in the collections used most by Deakin researchers.

Is AGS right for your research?

AGS is particularly valuable if you:

It’s built to support research intensity and reduce the friction of accessing content across publishers.
