Enter our competition to design the new library tote bag
Attention creative artists and designers: enter our competition to design the front of Deakin Library’s tote bag!
What does the library mean to you? To get those creative juices flowing, think about:
- the role Deakin Library has played in your studies
- how you use libraries
- the way the library makes you feel.
This competition is open to all Deakin Students. Submit your entry through this form by Thursday 7 December for a chance to win.
Competition details
The ‘Design a library bag’ competition commences at 8am on Thursday 23 November 2023 and concludes at 11.59pm on Thursday 7 December 2023 (AEST).
The competition requires current Deakin students to submit original artwork responding to the competition theme ‘What does the library mean to you?’ The winning entry will be produced on black tote bags that will be available to Deakin Library users for free as part of library promotional campaigns.
This competition is open to current Deakin University students only.
Design
The artwork must be an original piece created by the student themselves.
The design must fit inside an A4 printable area on the bag via digital printing, and it can be multi-coloured.
The submitted artwork must be in a high-resolution format ready to print, preferably at 300dpi.
The original and final artwork must be submitted to Deakin Library by the competition conclusion date and time, and be submitted via the competition submission form.
Judging
Entries to the competition will be judged by a panel of Deakin Library staff. The winner of the competition will be chosen by judges based on merit and fulfilment of the competition guidelines.
The winner will be notified by email on Monday 11 December.
Use of winning artwork image
The artist will retain copyright of the artwork. Deakin University reserves the right to use the winning artwork including, but not limited to, being reproduced in formats such as printed on tote bags and other collateral, displayed on library digital screens, published on the library website and reproduced in library communications.
The winning artwork image may also be used in future dated library promotional material and communications.
Prize
The winning artist will receive an artist fee of $1000.
For this to be paid, the student will be required to provide a tax invoice. Students will need an ABN to create an invoice, which they can obtain for free online.
Agreement
In submitting this work to the competition, the artist will retain copyright to the artwork and agree to the following terms:
I (the artist) warrant that:
- I give Deakin University non-exclusive permission to reproduce the work in print and digitally on marketing collateral and merchandise and publish online, including over social media channels
- I am the sole copyright owner of the work submitted, and it does not contain any copyright material belonging to others
