Attention new students: start out right with the library
Whether you’re studying at one of our campuses in Victoria or in the Cloud, Deakin Library is providing many great chances to learn about how we will help you succeed at uni. The library will be a major part of your time here at Deakin. We offer advice on research and citation, quiet places to study and collaborate, access to over a million resources, specialty guidance from Liaison Librarians, a 24-hour Library Chat service and much more.
Don’t miss out on all that the library has to offer! Here’s what we have planned for your Orientation Week in Trimester 3.
Explore the Library – Drop-in Tours
Pop in for a campus tour anytime between 10am–4pm Monday to Friday during O-Week. These casual tours are a great way to meet some of the staff at the library, get to know your campus, check out the best study spaces and grab a bookmark for the road. Even if your studies will be in the Cloud, if you live near a Deakin campus, you are more than welcome to use any of our libraries and come for a tour during O-Week.
Discover Your Library – Online Sessions
This quick, half-hour online session will give you the skills you need to:
- Search for digital and print resources
- Borrow, return, request and renew items
- Access course materials and subject-specific guides
- Reserve a comfortable study space
- Book a computer at Burwood Campus
We’re offering four different sessions at the start of O-Week:
Monday 29 October – 1pm OR 6pm
Tuesday 30 October – 1pm OR 6pm
Join from the comfort of your own home or a cosy booth at one of our campus libraries! Just visit this link at the session time you choose: https://au.bbcollab.com/guest/dfca43a080a746b590438c73cca48339
Early access to unit reading lists – Cloud Students
More unit reading lists than ever before can now be accessed through Deakin Library. We’ve been working hard to provide early access to your readings so that you can get a head start on your studies. The majority of readings for Cloud Campus students are now available, and we’re working to increase that number in the future. Visit the library homepage and enter your unit code into the search bar to check if your readings are available. If they’re not, don’t worry. They’ll be loaded up to your unit site a week before the start of trimester.
Conclusion
There are lots of ways you can prepare to have a strong start at Deakin! The library will be here for you throughout your time at university. Make sure you attend a tour, join one of our online sessions and follow us on social media so you never miss an update.
