The purpose of the competition is to invite all the architecture and built environment (A+B) students of Deakin University to create a Christmas card design. All competition submissions will be judged by a jury panel.

Prize:

The winner will receive complimentary 2021 SONA Membership, have their Christmas card design sent to all A+B students, teaching staff, alumni and supporters through email as well as featured on the Deakin A+B Blog and, published on the Waterfront Archives, SONA Victoria and SONA Australia Instagram Page. Commendations will have their Christmas card design only featured on the Deakin A+B Blog and, will be possibly used for the future.

Jury Panel:

The jury panel will consist of the following: Dr. Phillip Roos (Acting Head of School) , Prof. James Doerfler (Chair of Architecture) and Mr. Stewart Seaton (Course Director).

Key Dates:

  • Competition Opens: November 16th
  • Competition Closes: December 14th (10am AEDT)
  • Winner and Commendations Announced: December 16th 
  • Winner’s Design Sent and Published: December 18th

Eligibility:

The competition is open to all current A+B Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate), SONA Members and SONA Non-Members of Deakin University. Students may enter the competition as an individual or, in pairs.

Brief:

The design will be focused on themes relevant to Christmas and Architecture/Built Environment as well as Deakin University and Australia. Students should attempt to address all the themes in their design. All designs may use a series of creative methods (digital or by hand): collaging, drawing, hybrid drawing, images, photography, painting (etc). Also, the design will need to meet the requirements of the brief which relates to dimensions, uploading file (etc.) and the judging criteria.
