To celebrate World Environment Day, Dr Phillip Roös, Director of Deakin’s Live+Smart Research Lab spoke about Biophilic design and of the need to put nature first in the future design of our city.

Dr Roös covered the fundamentals for creating healthy liveable places that enhance wellbeing. He emphasised the need to inject nature into our streets, buildings and urban living environments.

He also highlighted the work that fellow UNESCO City of Design, Singapore, has done as a certified Biophilic City.

Finally Dr Roös pointed out that Geelong has some great opportunities to incorporate Biophilic design into some of the exciting projects happening in Geelong, such as Revitalising Central Geelong, the new Civic Precinct, and the North West growth area.
