Master of Landscape Architecture student Ross Uebergang won second place in the annual Japan-based Gardening World Cup competition. Held this year in Nagasaki, the Gardening World Cup hosts designers from 30 different countries and Ross Ueberganag is one of only two selected to represent Australia.

Ross’s shortlisted garden ‘My country, My culture – The Tea Garden’ is envisaged as a place to capture the sound of your heartbeat. The design speaks to Australia’s place within Asia, while using the image of the circle as a centring force of being. This design is laden with industrial tones in the built forms that are devoid of colour. The materials come from everywhere except Australia and the plants bring the vibrancy to the design. The Tea Garden is a place to slow down and reconnect with your people and Country (land).
